Government Started Receiving Rs. 15 Bn per Month from Electricity Bills

LAHORE: Government collecting billions Every month, Consumer have to pay TV charges, Nelum Jhelum surcharge, Income and General Sales Tax, Advance Tax, Extra Tax, Meter Rent and  Other Taxes including Electricity duty, from 12 billion to 15 billion rupees on the electricity bill.

According to the documents received, users from LESCO, FESCO, GEPCO, and other distributing companies are collecting the excess amount from electricity bills every month and deposited it in the government treasury. Consumers have paid an amounted to Rs. 7 billion 42 million 52 thousand rupees against GST. One billion 91 million 40 thousand against income tax, 62 million, 43 thousand against the sales tax, 13 billion 92 lakhs against Nelum Jehlum surcharge deposited in the government treasury.

Extra Charges

In respect of Advance and Extra Taxes, 4 billion, 20 million 20 thousand rupees against TV fees and electricity duty being received 46 million rupees 20 million rupees, while more than 22 million rupees being received from customers for M-Rent surcharge through the electricity bills. Consumers are paying in total more than 12 billion to 15 billion rupees each month.
